About The Campaign

Transforming India's
Sericulture Legacy

Building upon the success and learnings of MRMA 1.0, an evolved and improved version of the programme has been formulated as MRMA 2.0. It is a structured and target-oriented 100-day National Technology Transfer Campaign, proposed to be implemented from 22nd June to 30th September, 2026. The campaign will cover approximately 218 key sericulture districts across the 27 Sericulture Practicing States & Union Territories of the country, accounting for more than 95% of India's raw silk production.

Unlike conventional extension programmes, MRMA 2.0 adopts a scientific and evidence-based approach wherein every selected district undergoes detailed assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and impact evaluation. Further, the campaign operates through close collaboration among the Central Silk Board Scientists, State Departments of Sericulture officials/officers and farming communities. Each selected district is assigned with dedicated scientist and district nodal officer from the state who work closely with the farmers & local stakeholders to identify constraints, transfer technologies and monitor progress.

The campaign integrates a detailed Baseline Survey, stakeholder consultation meeting, target-oriented technology transfer campaign plan, long term perspective District-Sericulture Development Plans, post event reporting & documentations and impact assessment into a single coordinated framework. This ensures that interventions are targeted, measurable and aligned with district-specific requirements.

The MRMA 2.0 expected to strengthen the technology transfer & adoption, leading to enhance the silk production & productivity, improve farmers’ income and establish a Sustainable, Sericulture Technology Transfer model.
