About The Campaign

Transforming India's
Sericulture Legacy

Building upon the success and learnings of MRMA 1.0, an evolved and improved version of the programme has been formulated as MRMA 2.0. It is a structured and target-oriented 100-day National Technology Transfer Campaign.

Unlike conventional extension programmes, MRMA 2.0 adopts a scientific and evidence-based approach wherein every selected district undergoes detailed assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and impact evaluation.

Mulberry Silk
The most cultivated variety — lustrous, soft, and produced from Bombyx mori silkworms.
Tasar Silk
Wild silk from the Antheraea mylitta silkworm, known for its natural golden-brown hue.
Eri Silk
The "peace silk" — produced without killing the silkworm. Warm, durable, and sustainable.
Muga Silk
Exclusive to Assam — the world's only naturally golden-yellow silk with a GI tag.
